Animation studio LiM was born out of a personal need to turn illustrations into animations quickly and with ease. It may sound simple, but in reality, finding the right animation software was a real quest.

Many existing software solutions (such as the Adobe suite) are complicated to use - both to learn and to operate. As a result, it takes a long time to convert an illustration into an animation. Although there are other online tools for animating on the market, the end result is not ideal.

Building on this experience, we have developed smart animation software specifically aimed at animating visual stories, illustrations and business drawings. Note: You cannot (yet) use our animation software yourself at this time. You create the materials and we are ready to animate them with our software.

Help, my client wants an animation!

As a visual storyteller, you are skilled at your job: creating beautiful illustrations that tell your client's story. But animating is a profession in its own right. Especially if you have very little experience with the animation process. So if your client asks for an animation, you might be tempted to turn down the job.

What if you could focus on your drawing while we transform it into an animated sequence using our animation software?

Your illustrations, our animation software

At Animation studio LiM, the animation process is as follows:

1. You provide a storyboard, set of illustrations and a voice-over text. (Protip: Have your client write the text. You're the illustrator, after all).
2. Our team uploads these files to our in-house developed animation software, which then turns them into a dynamic sequence.
3. Once everyone is happy with the draft, the voice-over can be recorded. Perhaps your client has someone in mind, otherwise you can hire a voice actor through voicebooking.com or Fiverr, for example.
4. The animation is ready and we deliver several files to you so that your customer can watch it both online and on a large screen, with or without subtitles.

A dynamic whole

So what will such an animation look like? With our animation software, you cannot, for example, make a figure run. However, you can show a figure in a running position. On his forehead, three drops of sweat appear in succession, all in the style of an animation.

Some illustrations appear on screen, others are drawn out and coloured in before your eyes. We work with different types of transitions, zoom in and out on a larger canvas and slide objects into the frame from all angles. This way, your animation becomes a dynamic whole, which can be further enriched in post-processing if necessary.

We also constantly challenge ourselves to add new dynamic effects with our animation software. For example, can you make a laptop flip open with simple effects? The answer is: yes! Here, we combine the following effects:

1. Drawing-effect of the laptop's base and the figure
2. Fade-effect of the keyboard
3. Swing-effect of the screen
4. Pop effect of the stripes

Fast delivery

Thanks to our in-house developed animation software, we can quickly deliver. You will have the final product in your (digital) hands within a week. That's great, because nobody wants long, drawn-out projects. And when the animation is ready, you can get back to drawing.

Then your next question is undoubtedly: isn't that very expensive? And it's not that expensive either. You charge this to the customer, of course, after adding your own rate for illustrations and project hours. Since the cost of technical development of an animation is over €2,000 on average, this is a nice upsell for you.
