From drawing to animation
Turn your drawing into an animation with a voice-over and subtitles. For example, if your client wants to reach a wide audience that isn’t yet familiar with the subject. The animation is easy to share on any platform.
Process
See how your drawings come to life as an animation. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Writing the voice-over script
Write the voice-over script as the foundation of the animation.
We provide tips and guidance. There is also a manual to support you through the writing process. Tip: let your client write the text. After all, you are the illustrator.
Step 2. Creating a storyboard and drawings
You do what you’re best at: developing the story and turning it into visuals.
The voice-over script forms the basis of your work. For a 2-minute animation, for example, you’ll break it down into 10 scenes of no more than 25 words each. Create a storyboard and then develop the final illustrations for each scene.
Step 3. Submitting files
You need to provide three things: the voice-over script, the storyboard and the drawings.
Voice-over text: provide the text in Word, Pages or a similar format. As long as we can copy and paste it.
Storyboard: in the storyboard, you specify the order in which the elements appear in each scene, including the corresponding voice-over text.
drawings: please submit your illustrations as layered files. Place anything that needs to move on a separate layer.
If you work in vectors using Adobe Fresco, Illustrator, Concepts or Affinity Designer, we can get started right away. Do you work in Procreate or Adobe Photoshop? Then we first convert your files into vectors using our own software. View the file specifications for vector files en pixel-based files.
Step 4: Animation production, including AI voice-over and subtitles
We animate your drawings and add an AI voice-over as a first draft.
Once we receive your files, we get started right away. We review the storyboard, animate your drawings and add an AI voice-over. This allows you to test the pacing and make any small text adjustments before the final voice-over is recorded.
Step 5: The final voice-over is recorded
Choose a voice, and we’ll record the voice-over for you.
We have an overview of professional voice-over artists we work with. You or your client can choose one, and we’ll have the script recorded. You can also arrange a voice-over yourself. We then edit the voice-over into the animation, and finally add subtitles.
Step 6. The finished product
You’ll receive the animation in several formats, ready to share.
We’ve successfully completed all steps of the animation process. The story is rock-solid. Great work!
We provide a range of file formats so that your client can easily share the animation across all possible channels:
- An animation optimised for online viewing, with and without subtitles
- An animation optimised for large screens, with and without subtitles
- A text file for use with subtitles on platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo and LinkedIn
